“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us” ( 1 John 4:7-12).

As we celebrate love, let us not forget, that while cards, candy, flowers, and diamonds are ways in which we express our love for others, there is no greater expression of love than that of God giving his only begotten Son to die for us. We didn’t deserve it and surely we can’t earn it! God’s unconditional love saw beyond our faults. God saw that we were in desperate need of a Savior and while we were yet sinners, Jesus Christ gave his life for us! When we didn’t love him, Jesus shed his precious blood for us! So while we enjoy this time of love, let us dig deeper and look beyond the expressions of love that man can give and discover what “TRUE LOVE” really is! There is no greater love!

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
